The Story of Pup Traveler

Fans of our small dog carrier, Pupp Traveler, have a pup named Little Dipper Doxie to thank! Here’s the story of Pup Traveler’s creation in the words of our founder Tim Price.

While I was in the design and prototype phase of creating the The Back Country rescue harness, I met Little Dipper Doxie.

His parents asked me if I made a harness for smaller dogs. Honestly, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind because I assumed there were already enough small dog carrier options.

But when I looked at the small dog carriers on the market, I was not impressed and realized there had to be a better way.

Whether it be in a backpack or in a harness, every small dog carrier I came across had the dog sitting upright in the "begging position," which is not ergonomically suitable for dogs.

Many dogs either have IVDD (Inter Vertebral Disc Disease) or are susceptible to it. The “begging position” loads the spine and discs with weight, which can easily further injure a dog or create new problems.

Another issue I saw with small dog carriers was their size and bulk made it hard to take them places and often interfered with carrying personal belongings on an outing.

I set out with the goal of creating a small dog carrier that allowed for more ergonomic and portable carrying.

Pup Traveler supports the entire torso of the dog from the underbelly, rather than adding any strain to the spine or discs.

To ensure ergonomic comfort for both canines and their humans, Pup Traveler is fully adjustable for different lengths of small breeds and the adjustable body harness includes low back and shoulder support.

Lightweight and compact, Pup Traveler easily fits in a bag, purse or backpack.

Take Pup Traveler on all of your adventures, from the city to the great outdoors!
